Jungle of Spring, thick undergrowth and trees

 

Shrubbed till no bare ground is seen

 

Crowned the the Proprietary air

 

Of Lions on Parade

 

Pride's Pride, like peacocks vaunting their color

 

They triumph o'er avaricious hunters

 

Who encroach upon the bladed forest.

 

Persistently emerging on the lawn

 

They rise above the common

 

Dominating the spacious green

 

Gold manes tossing in Triumph

 

A welcome victory, for they ROAR SPRING!

It is fun sometimes to make a poem playing on words that are the same but mean different things--like Lion and dandilion. So here in this poem we are imagining the dandilions as if they are really lions. A fun part about this poem was that the words, common and green are both words that mean lawn.
